  1. United Nations’ Russian Language Day is annually observed across the globe on 6 June to create awareness about the history, culture and development of the Russian language and to celebrate cultural diversity and multilingualism.
  2. World Pest Day, also known as World Pest Awareness Day, is observed annually on 6 June across the globe to raise public awareness of the importance of pest management for the protection of public health.
  3. On World Environment Day, Reckitt inaugurated the inaugural Dettol Climate Resilient School in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, as part of its Dettol Banega Swasth India campaign with an aim to provide schools with the necessary tools and knowledge to build climate-resilient communities.
  4. Indian Institute of Technology-Madras ranked first in overall higher education institutions in the eighth edition of the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings 2023 released by the Union Ministry of Education.
  5. In a move to revive wetlands and mangroves across the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on World Environment Day launched two schemes named Amrit Dharohar and MISHTI (Mangrove Initiative for Shoreline Habitats and Tangible Incomes) under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

  9. On 5 June 2023, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde launched Asia’s largest cluster development scheme in Thane, Maharashtra for the collective redevelopment of unauthorized and official dangerous buildings in the urban areas.
  10. Union MoS Rajkumar Ranjan Singh has announced that the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) will launch ‘One Student One Tree Campaign 2023’ and that UGC too has taken initiatives for creating awareness about Mission LiFE.

  12. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the permanent building of the pre-historic, 5,000 year old, Dhalpur Shiva Mandir in Sipajhar Revenue Circle in Darrang district.

  16. Actor Gufi Paintal, best known for playing the role of Shakuni Mama in BR Chopra’s TV show Mahabharat (1980), passed away in Mumbai due to age related health issue at the age of 79.
